It cost a lot of money to send his son to the United States to study and build a house. Sanjeev and Sadhana Prasad say they have spent their money to raise and educate their son, to be a pilot, and to pay for a luxurious wedding. Now they need a refund.
"My son has been married for six years but they are still not planning to have a baby. If we have at least one grandchild to spend time with, we can bear the pain," the couple said in a petition filed in a court in Haridwar.
The compensation they are seeking - about euros 625,000 - includes the cost of a wedding reception at a five-star hotel, a luxury car worth euro 75,000, and money for the couple's honeymoon abroad.
The house was built with a loan from a bank. But now they are financially bankrupt and their demanding Rs 2.5 crore each from son and daughter-in-law, as compensation. Their son got married in 2016 in the hope of having a grandson. But so far that has not happened. If we have at least one grandchild to spend time with, we can bear the pain.

So the Indian couple has filed a complaint seeking of a grandchild within a year or about 625,000 euros (5 crore) demand in damages. SR Prasad and his wife approached the court.
