When all 90 seats were declared after 1am on Sunday, Sinn Fin retained all its seats and won 27 seats. The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) won 25, the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) nine and the Social Democratic and Labor Party (SDLP).

DUP's Gary Middleton was declared the winner after the toughest competition with UP's Ryan McCrady, ending on the foil about 40 hours after the start of the count.

The SDLP's hopes of securing a third seat in the constituency, along with Mark Durkan and Synod McLaughlin, were dashed, with Sinn F‌in's vote remaining strong, with Padrigh Delarge and Ciara Ferguson winning one seat.

Another major election success story was the doubling of the number of Cross-Community Alliance parties to elect 17 MLAs in the final vote of 2017.

After the conquest of Northern Ireland, Sinn Fin also gained popularity in Ireland. Thirty-four percent of those polled said they would vote for Sinn Fin in the next general election. The party received one per cent more support than last time. With this, Synfain was recognized as the most popular party in the country.
