Mumbai: Pallonji Mistry, an Indian-born Irish billionaire who built luxury hotels, stadiums, palaces and factories across Asia, has died in Mumbai. He was 93 years old.
A company spokesperson confirmed the death of the Indian businessman after the news spread on social media posts.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mistry has a net worth of about $ 29 billion, making him one of the richest men in India and Europe. Born in Dublin, he married Patricia Perin Dubash in 2003 and renounced his Indian citizenship and became an Irish citizen.

Mistry and family manages the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, which started 150 years ago and today employs more than 50,000 people in more than 50 countries, according to its website. Its major projects include the Reserve Bank of India, the Oberoi Hotel in Mumbai and the blue and gold Al Alam Palace for the Sultan of Oman.
However, the bulk of the family wealth comes from the largest minority shareholders - 18.5% - of Mumbai - based Tata Sons Pvt Ltd, the largest investment holding company in India.
