IRELAND: Household electricity and gas bills to rise by 10% and 29.2% respectively - Electric Ireland

Ireland: Electric Ireland is set to increase Ireland's household electricity and gas bills. The increase in the bill will be effective from August 1. The same increase will be applicable in standing charge.

There will be an increase of 29.2 per cent in the unit price of residential gas bills and 10.9 per cent in the unit price of residential electricity bills.

The increase equates to an average monthly electricity bill of €13.71 and an average gas bill of €25.96. The change will take effect from August 1, according to Electric Ireland, the ESB's distribution arm.

The new rates are expected to increase Electric Ireland electricity bills by an average of €13.71 per bill from next month. This rate will cost each customer an additional €165.55 per year. With gas prices rising by 29.2 percent, each bill will see an increase of 25.65 euros. The additional cost is €311.54 per year.

Earlier in March, electricity bill was increased by 23.4 percent and gas bill by 24.8 percent. In March, the government had completed the process of giving electricity consumers a credit of 200 euros on their bills.
