SRILANKA: Cash-strapped Sri Lanka: Schools in Sri Lanka are closed due to lack of fuel and money.

Colombo: Sri Lanka on Sunday prolonged school closures for one week because there is not sufficient fuel for teachers and parents to get children to classrooms. The energy minister appealed to the country's expatriates to send cash home via banks to finance new oil purchases.
