Ernakulam: In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on September 1 and 2, the district police will impose strict traffic control near Nedumbassery airport and Kaladi.
From 3.30 pm to 8.00 pm on September 1, vehicles will not be allowed to pass through Airport Road from Athani Airport Junction to Kaladi Matur Junction. Traffic restrictions have been imposed near the airport on September 2 from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm. According to the earlier announcements, the airport passengers were warned to be prepared to face the situation and reach the airport early.
Ernakulam Rural Police informed that the travelers to the airport should chart their journey accordingly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Kerala on a two-day visit from Thursday, during which he will participate in various events, including the commissioning of the country's first indigenously built aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, on September 2. The Prime Minister will arrive at Nedumbassery by a special flight tomorrow at 4.25 pm and will first attend the BJP general meeting at Nedumbassery. The Prime Minister will arrive here on Thursday evening to address a public meeting and visit the Adi Shankara Janmabhoomi Kshetra (temple) at Kaladi, the birthplace of the Hindu saint, official sources said. Also, he will lay the foundation stone of the Kochi Metro Phase II project at 6 pm on Thursday and inaugurate Phase I of the first line from SN Junction to Vadakkotta. The following day, he will commission the Vikrant at the Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi and "unveil the new naval flag (Nishan) thereby erasing the colonial past," the PMO said in a statement.
