Pays Tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birthday: PM Modi, President Murmu, Rahul Gandhi and others

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in honouring the nation's founding father Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, which marked the 153rd anniversary of his birth. Every year on October 2 to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, Gandhi Jayanti is held. Gandhi led the independence movement against colonial British domination.

Mahatma Gandhi, affectionately known as Bapu, received praise all over the world for his unflinching commitment to "Swaraj" (self-governance) and "Ahimsa" (non-violence). Gandhi's birthday is commemorated as the International Day of Non-Violence around the world.

On the day of Mahatma Gandhi's birth, political figures including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shashi Tharoor, and President Droupadi Murmu remembered him.


PM Modi pays tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birthday and requested everyone to buy khadi and handicraft products as a tribute to him.





Prime Minister Modi also fondly remembered India's second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birthday falls on October 2, and who is admired across the country for his simplicity and decisiveness. The Prime Minister visited Rajghat and Vijay Ghat, the memorials of Gandhiji and Shastri respectively, and paid tributes to them.



 


Rahul Gandhi pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi 

On the 25th day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi joined party officials at an event at Badanavalu, Mysuru, to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's 153rd birthday.
At 8 a.m., Rahul Gandhi presented flowers to the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Badanavalu, Karnataka, which was followed by a prayer gathering.






On the 25th day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi visited the Khadi village industries of Badnavalu to commemorate Bapu, the Congress said.


President Murmu and Vice President Dhankhar paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. 

President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary on Sunday.Mrs. Murmu and Dhankar visited Rajghat, Gandhiji's final resting place and later Vijay Ghat, Shastri's memorial in Delhi.

Sonia Gandhi and Kharge paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat

On Gandhi Jayanti, Sonia Gandhi, the interim president of the Congress, and senior Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi tweeted, "Bapu is an example of truth," on the 153rd anniversary of Gandhi. The flame of bravery is Bapu. Bapu is an Indian traveller who unites all of India by sharing the tribulations of the nation's citizens.



With the slogan 'Bharat Jodo' on our tongues and the determination to hold the torch of unity in our hands, we walk the path shown by Bapu today,' added Mrs. Vadra. 

Kerala Governor and Chief Minister pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

On the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid tribute to him on Sunday.

The governor reportedly wished for Gandhiji's beliefs and high principles to continue directing society.

"Salutations on Gandhi Jayanti 2022 to the revered memory of #MahatmaGandhi, the nation's father. May the high principles he upheld and his beliefs continue to direct us as we move forward, "Tweets from Mr. Khan.

In wishing everyone a happy Gandhi Jayanti, Mr. Vijayan said that Mahatma Gandhi was a leader who gave his life to realise the aim of releasing India from colonial rule and building a secular, democratic republic.


In order to combat communal forces, the chief minister urged the populace to uphold Mahatma Gandhi's message of tolerance and brotherhood.


"Let's promise to uphold Gandhi's message of tolerance and fraternity and combat the forces of religion that seek to undermine the nation's unity. Let's work toward the day when everyone has access to justice and equality. Happy Gandhi Day to everyone! "In his statement, Mr. Vijayan stated.
