INDIA: WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, experienced an outage this morning. Users across the globe took to social media to complain about not being able to send or receive messages on the platform.
According to service status website Downdetector, users started reporting problems on WhatsApp as early as 8 am and by 8.30 am, 12,000 problem reports were reported on the website.
During downtime, users could still access their conversations, but the app failed to exchange new messages or send the ones they were trying to send.
After that, WhatsApp came back into service. Meta, the platform's parent company that owns Facebook and Instagram, has yet to comment on the matter. WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms worldwide and is estimated to have more than two billion active users globally.
