DUBLIN: Irish Immigration has issued a notice to employers regarding employees waiting to renew their IRP cards.
The Immigration Services Registration Office Burgh Quay Dublin is currently experiencing significant delays with the current processing time for Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card renewals of approximately 6 weeks. So it may take another 2 weeks to get the new IRP card after the registration renewal is completed. Individuals wishing to renew their registration will therefore need to be given sufficient time to complete the process to ensure that they remain authorized while in Ireland.
If an employee's IRP card expires and they do not receive a valid registration card by the expiry date of their current IRP card, they now legally have 8 weeks to remain in Ireland under the existing conditions of their current IRP card. It is allowed. This 8-week provision applies to an employee who provides proof of applying for renewal of registration before the current IRP card expires.

All renewals in the Dublin area are processed online and applicants are provided with an application receipt detailing the date of application and an application number (OREG number). Once the online renewal application is approved, an application filled e-mail will be sent to the applicant. This email confirmation can be used as proof of registration while the applicant awaits delivery of their new IRP card.
*Note however, if their current immigration permit expires prior to submitting an application for renewal, they are considered out of permit and therefore not legally permitted to remain or work in Ireland.
