A portion of a bridge in Bihar's Begusarai collapsed and fell into the river on Sunday. The bridge, which was built at a cost of Rs 14 crores, was not formally inaugurated though the traffic was operational on it.
Nobody was on the bridge at the time of the incident. The bridge, built over the Burhi Gandak River in Begusarai's Sahebpur Kamal, had developed cracks a few days ago.

"The bridge was not open for usage right away. We're investigating what caused the bridge to collapse "Roshan Kushwaha, according to DM Begusarai.
The district magistrate stated that the incident is being investigated and promised that anybody found guilty would face consequences. Kushwaha stated that a thorough inquiry report will direct the subsequent course of action.
The bridge was not formally inaugurated; it is located between Ahok-Bishanpur in the Sahebpur Kamal block on the Gandak river. DM Kushwaha stated that the bridge was constructed in 2016 by the Sahebpur Kamal block's Rural Works Department.
Even though the bridge wasn't officially in use, activity was seen for approximately two months.
Following the event, the engineering director and the bridge's expert team initiated an investigation, and traffic and vehicle movement on the route was stopped.
