Dublin Airport anticipates its busiest day throughout the holiday season.

On Friday, which is anticipated to be the biggest travel day over the Christmas holiday, some 98,000 passengers are anticipated to arrive and depart through Dublin Airport.

Over the next 12 days, the airport will see more than 1 million passengers, according to the operator DAA.

According to DAA's public relations manager, Graeme McQueen, travel numbers will be up by about 95% from the same time last year.

He told Newstalk radio, "We expect Dublin Airport to be busy over the next days." "We recommend that everyone flying arrive at the airport two hours prior to a short-haul trip and three hours prior to a long-haul journey.

"We would recommend allowing up to an additional hour if you are checking a bag with your flight." At Dublin Airport, things have been going pretty well lately, and we anticipate that to continue.

Tens of thousands of people are anticipated to fly home over the next few days through Belfast and Derry airports.

Up to 10,000 passengers are expected at Belfast City Airport on Friday alone, and numerous others will fly into Belfast International Airport, City of Derry Airport, and ferry ports.

Santa visits and school choirs performing carols at Belfast City Airport add to the holiday spirit.

Although they have increased since the coronavirus outbreak, according to airport chief executive Matthew Hall, passenger numbers have not yet reached 2019 levels.

Belfast City Airport anticipates welcoming thousands of passengers through its doors this week, with up to 10,000 on December 23 alone. "The most wonderful time of the year is once again upon us, and with travel very much back on the cards for many as they reunite with friends and family for yuletide celebrations," he said.

"This increase in travel is a sign of the aviation industry's recovery, and while the airport hasn't fully returned to its 2019 levels of passenger traffic, we do anticipate doing so in the first half of 2023."

Every December, he continued, "we relish the chance to contribute to the spread of holiday cheer in the terminal. This year, passengers enjoyed choir performances from our adopted schools, carolling with Santa and Mrs. Claus, gift-wrapping stations, and airline partner competitions, while staff also took part in numerous celebrations and events in support of our charity partner of the year, AWARE.

Looking back on 2022, Mr. Hall stated that they welcomed three new significant airline partners: Lufthansa, flybe, and Aer Lingus Regional.

"We enter 2023 with a healthy route network of 26 destinations across the UK and Europe, allowing passengers lots of choice, convenience, and flexibility when it comes to travel to and from our shores," he said.

As we say goodbye to this year, we would like to take the chance to express our sincere gratitude to our customers, our stakeholders, and the neighbourhood for their ongoing support. We also want to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
