Uttar Pradesh: Mother and daughter burned to death while evacuating land encroached by police in Kanpur, 45-year-old mother and 20-year-old daughter died. The incident took place in Kanpur's Madhauli village when the police deliberately set the house on fire when someone was inside, residents said.

But the police also alleged that the mother and daughter set themselves on fire without helping them leave the house. The government filed a case against the policemen in the incident. Attempted murder. The case is based on charges including murder. Yesterday, the district administration and the police arrived in the village as part of the eviction of the encroached land.
