The former president's motorcade takes just minutes to drive the 6.4 kilometers (4 miles) from his home in Trump Tower to the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse. While driving, he posted on his social media website: "Feels so amazing -- wow, they're going to arrest me".

Dressed in a dark blue suit and red tie, Trump, 76, showed little emotion as he waved to a crowd gathered outside the courthouse after driving in a motorcade from his New York residence in Trump Tower.
Trump, who said the allegations were politically motivated, pumped his fist in the air in a gesture to reporters as he left Trump Tower. Trump said nothing as he walked down the aisle.
A Manhattan grand jury indicted him last week in connection with a 2016 payment to veteran film star Stormy Daniels, with specific charges not yet disclosed.
"Today (Tuesday) is the day a governing political party arrests its main opponent for not committing a crime," Trump, who flew to New York yesterday from his Florida home, said in a fundraising email sent this morning.
Trump was scheduled to surrender to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office before his trial before Justice Juan Mercant. At a trial, a defendant may hear the charges and enter a plea.
