New Delhi: So far 12 deaths have been reported in various states in North India. Heavy rains, floods and landslides continue. Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir are experiencing heavy rains. Meanwhile, in South India, although the rains are heavy in Karnataka, the rains are easing in Kerala today.
In Himachal Pradesh, there was huge damage due to landslides. Bridge and cars were washed away in Himachal Pradesh. Three members of a family died in a house collapse in Shimla. 736 roads including the Mandi-Kulu National Highway were closed after the bridge was washed away. Cars parked in Manali were swept away in the flood. The accident occurred due to flood in Beas river.
Two soldiers drowned yesterday in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. A section of National Highway 44 collapsed. The road collapsed near Nandi in Chaba Seri. Jammu-Srinagar national highway closed due to heavy rains.
Thousands of pilgrims who were stranded on their way to the cave temple in Jammu and various other places were rescued and shifted to safe places after landslides occurred at several places in Jammu during the second consecutive day of incessant rain.
A 58-year-old woman died after the ceiling of her flat collapsed in Delhi. Four people died in rains in Rajasthan. A woman and her six-year-old daughter died after their house collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar due to heavy rains.
