Doha: Qatar’s General Directorate of Industrial Security has urged residents, visitors, boaters and campers to maintain a minimum safety distance of 500 metres from oil and gas facilities, pipelines and associated stations.
The advisory, issued through the Ministry of Interior, applies to offshore oil and gas installations as well as oil and gas transmission and distribution pipelines and their related stations. People travelling by boat are advised to keep at least 500 metres away from offshore energy facilities.
Authorities have also stressed the importance of following safety instructions and warning signs and avoiding restricted areas. The measures are intended to protect the public, workers and Qatar’s critical energy infrastructure.
Residents and visitors are urged to comply with the safety requirements when travelling in coastal areas or setting up camps near energy infrastructure.
