Dublin Airport is warning travelers to be vigilant after reports of fake Facebook accounts offering lost luggage for sale.
This is what the fraudster wrote on the fake Dublin Airport account
🇮🇪 Lost suitcases at the airport for just 2 euros!
🧳 Suitcases stored for more than one year should be removed. The airport does not want to pay the concession fee for the next quarter, and the lost luggage is being sold in the store for only 2 euros!
❗️ Online only. To order, click the button on the ad and go to the website! 👇🏻🇮🇪
Fraudsters try to trick unsuspecting victims by using accounts they think are linked to the airport. These scammers claim to be selling lost luggage from Dublin Airport.
A Dublin Airport spokesman said: "We are aware of a number of fake accounts operating on Facebook and offering 'lost luggage for sale' under the false pretense of being linked to Dublin Airport.
"These accounts have nothing to do with Dublin Airport and there is no "lost luggage sale" at Dublin Airport. We strongly encourage users not to engage with these accounts or provide personal information and to report them to Meta / Facebook.)
