Snow covered counties and weather warnings are in place for much of the country.
Snow and sleet in parts of the Midlands and in the west, north and highlands. Met Eireann predicts widespread rain.
A status yellow snow-ice warning is currently in place for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo. It will last until 8pm today, during which hazardous travel conditions, poor visibility and snow on the roads are expected, Met Eireann said.
Clare, Tipperary, Galway, Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Wicklow are also currently under a special status yellow snow-ice warning, which expires at 1pm.
Hazardous travel conditions are expected in the northern half of the country until 8pm. A status yellow rain warning is in place for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Meath, Wexford and Wicklow until 5am tomorrow.
According to Met Eireann, rain, snow and easterly winds are expected. There is also a risk of localized flooding in some places.
In Northern Ireland, the UK Met Office has issued a status yellow snow warning for Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone. It will last till 6 am tomorrow.
