New Delhi: India took tough action against Canada after diplomatic relations deteriorated. India has decided to expel six Canadian diplomats. They were instructed to leave India before 11:59 pm on Saturday.
Acting High Commissioner Stuart Ross Wheeler, Deputy High Commissioner Patrick Hebert, First Secretary Mary Catherine Jolley, First Secretary Lan Ross David Tritz, First Secretary Adam James Chupka and First Secretary Paula Orjuela have been ordered to leave the country. Following India's action, Canada also expelled Indian diplomats.
India toughened its stand after Canada informed that Indian High Commissioner to Canada Sanjay Verma and diplomatic officials were involved in the assassination plot of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The Canadian High Commissioner was summoned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and registered a strong protest.
