Prime Minister Modi Honored with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Global Peace Award

The Association of Indian American Minorities (AIAM), a newly established non-governmental organization, was officially launched on Friday at the Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church in Maryland. The initiative aims to unite and promote the welfare of minority communities within the Indian American diaspora across the United States.

As part of the launch event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored (in absentia) with the prestigious Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Global Peace Award for Minority Upliftment. The award, jointly presented by Washington Adventist University and AIAM, acknowledged his efforts towards inclusive development and minority welfare.

Renowned Sikh philanthropist Jasdip Singh was announced as the Founder and Chairman of AIAM, leading a seven-member Board of Directors representing diverse Indian minority communities. The board includes prominent figures such as Baljinder Singh and Dr. Sukhpal Dhanoa (Sikhs), Pawan Bezwada and Elisha Pulivarti (Christians), Dipak Thakker (Hindu), Juned Qazi (Muslim), and Nissim Reuben (Indian Jewish).

In his address, Chairman Jasdip Singh emphasized AIAM’s commitment to advancing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) by 2047. He highlighted India's inclusive policies under Modi's leadership, ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens regardless of religion, caste, or sect.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, Member of Parliament and convener of the Indian Minorities Federation, underscored India’s transformation under the “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (Together for Everyone’s Growth) approach. He praised the end of appeasement politics, fostering communal harmony and equality.

Members of the Indian minority diaspora lauded PM Modi for upholding India's secular values and strengthening its global standing. They also condemned divisive narratives, affirming that Indian minorities now resist attempts to undermine unity and progress.

AIAM is poised to play a pivotal role in fostering unity among Indian Americans and amplifying their contributions to the multicultural fabric of the United States.
