"Two trains on the same track" A major accident was avoided

Lucknow; Two trains on the same track. A major accident was avoided in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Swatantra Senani Express and Ayodhya Dham Special came on the same track.

The Swatantra Senani Express was stopped near Varanasi after the chain was pulled on its way from New Delhi to Jainagar. Meanwhile, green signal was given to the Ayodhya Dham special train departing from the third platform of Varanasi Junction. 

As the train neared the yard near Varanasi Junction, the loco pilot noticed that Swattri Senani Express was ahead on the same track. Then the emergency brake was applied. With this, the train slowed down and stopped just 50 meters before the Swatantra Senani Express. With this, a big accident was avoided. The loco pilot informed senior railway officials. The officials then allowed both the trains to change the track and resume the journey. An inquiry was ordered into the incident and an inquiry committee was formed involving the relevant departments.
