External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized on Friday that India is navigating a transformative period, balancing its deep-rooted traditions with the innovative use of technology to shape its future. Speaking at the Indian of the Year program organized by a private media outlet, where he received the prestigious India First Award, Jaishankar reflected on the nation’s progress and challenges.
Highlighting India’s evolving response to terrorism, Jaishankar drew a sharp contrast between past and present approaches. “A country that did not respond even to a major attack like 26/11 is now delivering clear messages through decisive actions like those in Uri and Balakot,” he remarked, underscoring the government's commitment to safeguarding national security.
Jaishankar, a seasoned diplomat-turned-politician, described this era as an opportune moment to helm India’s foreign policy. He credited the Trump administration for advancing the Quad—a strategic alliance among India, the United States, Japan, and Australia. Speaking at the India-Japan Forum on Friday, he noted, “The Quad’s foundation was laid during the Trump administration, with the first meeting of Deputy Foreign Ministers occurring in its early years.”
As India continues its trajectory of growth and global engagement, Jaishankar’s leadership underscores a blend of assertiveness and strategic foresight, positioning the nation as a key player on the international stage.
