MLA U. Prathibha Defends Son Amid Ganja Case Allegations; BJP Vice President Adv B Gopalakrishnan Extends Support

On December 28, 2024, the Kuttanad Excise team apprehended a group allegedly involved in the illegal possession of ganja. Among those detained was the son of MLA Adv. U. Prathibha.

Following the incident, MLA Prathibha strongly defended her son, dismissing the allegations as baseless and labeling the situation as a politically motivated witch hunt. She accused certain factions of fabricating the news to tarnish her reputation and undermine her political career.

Amidst the controversy, BJP State Vice President Adv. B. Gopalakrishnan publicly expressed his support for MLA Prathibha. Gopalakrishnan condemned the alleged targeting of the MLA and her family, emphasizing that such actions are unwarranted and unjust.

This development has intensified discussions around the case, with calls for a fair investigation and greater accountability from all parties involved.

BJP State Vice President Adv. B. Gopalakrishnan has expressed solidarity with MLA Adv. U. Prathibha, who has been embroiled in controversies following allegations involving her son.

Internal conflicts within the party previously surfaced when district leaders from Alappuzha initiated dissent against U. Prathibha. These disputes, amplified by local media with close ties to political circles, escalated to the state level, drawing widespread attention. U. Prathibha had earlier responded emotionally to the allegations, emphasizing through social media that a coordinated political and media conspiracy was targeting her by implicating her son in a baseless case.

Despite facing ongoing hostility within her own party, U. Prathibha suggested that the accusations against her son in a drug-related case were part of a larger conspiracy. Although she refrained from naming individuals, her statements pointed to orchestrated efforts against her.

Adv. B. Gopalakrishnan’s remarks have added a new dimension to the issue, reportedly causing unease among CPM state leaders. He alleged that the marijuana case involving Prathibha’s son was either a deliberate setup or mishandled with the knowledge of the CPM leadership.

"Cyberattacks targeting a mother and public representative are unacceptable," Gopalakrishnan stated in a Facebook post, condemning the acts as unjust.

Excerpt from Adv. B. Gopalakrishnan’s Statement:

"I strongly oppose the malicious cyberattacks aimed at mentally harassing Adv. Prathibha MLA. The evident communist sadism behind these actions is both unjust and reprehensible. I firmly believe that the case involving her son was either fabricated or mishandled with the awareness of the CPM leadership. She is not just a legislator but also a mother and a woman, and such targeted attacks are deplorable."

Gopalakrishnan’s statements have amplified calls for fairness and accountability, adding urgency to resolving the controversy in a manner that respects the dignity of public representatives and their families.
