New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has reiterated the strength and unity of the INDIA alliance, affirming his party’s support for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi. Speaking to the media, Yadav highlighted the collective resolve of the opposition alliance to defeat the BJP and underlined the principle of supporting regional parties in their strongholds.
"The INDIA alliance remains intact," Yadav stated. "When the alliance was formed, it was decided that wherever a regional party holds significant influence, the alliance would extend its support to them. In Delhi, AAP is strong, and the Samajwadi Party has decided to stand with AAP." #WATCH | Haridwar: On the INDIA alliance, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav says "The INDIA alliance is intact. Yadav emphasized that the primary objective of the alliance is to challenge and defeat the BJP, regardless of regional complexities. Acknowledging the ongoing contest between AAP and Congress in Delhi, he reiterated that the ultimate goal of all parties within the INDIA alliance is aligned.
"The question here is about Delhi, and our goal is to ensure the BJP's defeat," he said. "Both Congress and AAP share this same objective. It is imperative that we stand together and support the party best positioned to challenge the BJP in any region."
Yadav’s remarks come amid increasing discussions on the INDIA alliance’s strategy for the upcoming elections and its approach to local-level contests between member parties. By supporting AAP in Delhi, the Samajwadi Party has reaffirmed its commitment to the alliance's broader mission of forging a united front against the BJP.
The INDIA alliance, a coalition of opposition parties, aims to consolidate anti-BJP votes and present a unified challenge in the 2024 general elections. Yadav’s statement underscores the emphasis on regional cooperation and strategic collaboration within the alliance to achieve this goal.
