Telugu actor Allu Arjun, named as an accused in the tragic stampede incident during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2, appeared before police on Sunday in compliance with his bail conditions. The actor, listed as Accused No. 11 in the case, was granted regular bail by a city court on January 3.
As per the court’s directives, Allu Arjun is required to appear before the investigating officer every Sunday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for two months or until the charge sheet is filed, whichever comes first. Additionally, the court has barred him from leaving the country without prior approval and instructed him not to change his residential address without informing the court. These conditions will remain in force until the case reaches resolution.
The December 4 Tragedy
The incident occurred on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where a stampede-like situation unfolded as fans thronged to see Allu Arjun at the Pushpa 2 premiere. The chaos resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman and injuries to her eight-year-old son.
Following the tragedy, a case was registered against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management at Chikkadpally police station. Charges were filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint by the deceased woman’s family.
Legal Proceedings
Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13 in connection with the case but was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court the following day. His interim bail is set to expire on January 10, with regular bail conditions now in effect.
The case has cast a shadow over the actor’s public engagements and has highlighted the need for better crowd management during high-profile events. Investigations are ongoing, and the authorities are expected to file a charge sheet in the coming weeks.
