Swift Response from Fire Department
Pramod Sharma, an official from the Uttar Pradesh Fire Department, stated, "We received information about a fire affecting 15 tents in the Chatnag Ghat Police Station area, Koday. Immediate action was taken, and the fire was swiftly extinguished."
Officials further clarified that the affected tents were unauthorized structures. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) confirmed the tents had been set up without proper authorization, adding that the situation is now under control.
Previous Incidents at Maha Kumbh
The incident comes shortly after a fire broke out earlier at the Maha Kumbh due to the explosion of three cooking gas cylinders, though no casualties were reported.
However, a tragic stampede at the Maha Kumbh on Wednesday claimed 30 lives and left 60 others injured. In response, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh for the families of the deceased. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also ordered a judicial inquiry, directing a judicial committee to submit its findings to the state government within a specified timeframe.
