General Vijay Kumar Singh, the Governor-designate of Mizoram, arrived in Aizawl on Wednesday afternoon. He will be sworn in as the 25th Governor of the state on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Raj Bhavan's circular lawn. The oath of office will be administered by Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
Singh was welcomed at Lengpui Airport near Aizawl at 2:30 p.m. by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama, Home Minister K. Sapdanga, Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena, Director General of Police Anil Shukla, and other senior officials. Later, at the Raj Bhavan, he was received by Health Minister Lalrinpuii and two Ministers of State.
Before his arrival in Aizawl, General Singh visited the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on Wednesday morning to seek the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, according to an official statement.
In a press communiqué dated December 24, Rashtrapati Bhavan announced the appointment of General Vijay Kumar Singh as Governor of Mizoram by President Droupadi Murmu. The communiqué also confirmed the transfer of Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, the outgoing Governor of Mizoram, to serve as the Governor of Odisha.
General Singh's swearing-in marks a new chapter in Mizoram’s governance, bringing his extensive experience to the role.
