Gujarat: Two Brothers Arrested for Brutal Murder Over Mother’s Relationship

Gandhinagar, Gujarat: In a shocking incident, two brothers allegedly murdered a man in broad daylight, reportedly driven by anger over his long-term relationship with their widowed mother. The gruesome crime, which took place in a village in Gandhinagar, saw the accused not only stabbing the victim to death but also flinging his intestines in front of horrified onlookers, police said.

According to the FIR filed by the victim’s son, Ajay Thakor, the accused, Sanjay Thakor (27) and Jayesh Thakor (23), harbored deep resentment toward Ratanji Thakor (45), who had been in a relationship with their mother for over 15 years. The brothers reportedly believed that the affair brought “dishonor” to their late father’s memory and caused “shame” to the family.

Previous Confrontations and Failed Mediation

The FIR further stated that Sanjay and Jayesh had previously confronted Ratanji over the issue, warning him to stay away from their mother. Despite involving community elders in an attempt to settle the matter, no resolution was reached, according to Investigating Officer (IO) Unnati Patel.

Brutal Attack at Construction Site

On Sunday, the brothers, armed with a knife and an iron rod, launched a violent attack on Ratanji and his associate Jikuji Parmar, while they were working at a construction site in the village. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers brandished their blood-soaked weapons to prevent laborers and bystanders from intervening before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Authorities tracked the duo’s mobile phone locations, leading to their swift arrest later the same day. They have been charged with murder and abetment under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), police confirmed.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with police continuing their investigation into the crime.
