Pakistan: Punjab Police Unveil Comprehensive Security Plan for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

 LAHORE: In preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Punjab Police have announced stringent security measures to ensure the safety of players, officials, and spectators during the tournament, set to begin next month in Pakistan.

A total of 12,564 officers and personnel will be deployed across key locations in Lahore and Rawalpindi, with aerial monitoring to be conducted in collaboration with the Pakistan Army and Rangers for enhanced surveillance.

In Lahore, 7,618 officers will be stationed, while 4,535 personnel will oversee operations in Rawalpindi. An additional 411 officers from the Special Branch will support these efforts. All routes leading to venues will be closely monitored through Safe City cameras, enabling real-time updates to preempt any security risks.

Authorities have confirmed that players will receive state guest status, underlining the commitment to their safety throughout the event. Final security arrangements are expected to be completed in the coming days.

Tournament Overview

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will take place from February 19 to March 9 across three venues in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi in Pakistan, with select matches in Dubai. The prestigious eight-team tournament will feature 15 matches, with teams divided into two groups:

  • Group A: Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh
  • Group B: Afghanistan, South Africa, England, Australia

The opening match will see hosts Pakistan face New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi, while cricket’s marquee clash between arch-rivals Pakistan and India is scheduled for February 23 in Dubai.
