Union Minister of Communications and senior BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent controversial statement, where Gandhi described himself as being "at war with the Indian state." In a sharp rebuke on Twitter, Scindia labeled the remark as "irresponsible" and accused Gandhi of betraying his constitutional oath.
"Should we be surprised? The apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree!" Scindia wrote in his tweet. He went on to call Gandhi’s statement an “attack on the soul of the nation” and questioned his commitment to democracy and constitutional principles.

Rahul Gandhi’s outrageous claim of being “at war with the Indian state” is not just irresponsible, but an attack on the soul of the nation. A comment like this by the Leader of Opposition exposes the betrayal of… pic.twitter.com/uQWP0vcOyk
Scindia highlighted that such comments from the Leader of the Opposition undermine the sacrifices made by India’s armed forces and the citizens who uphold the ideals of democracy. "A comment like this exposes the betrayal of the very oath that he took six months ago and of the red book that he pretends to follow," he said.
The BJP leader also accused Gandhi of continuing a legacy of undermining the Constitution for personal ambition. “But we must not be surprised; the leader is yet again simply continuing his family’s legacy of treating the Constitution like a ‘pocket diary,’ exploiting it for personal gain while undermining its authority,” Scindia remarked.
The statement has triggered a political uproar, with BJP leaders alleging that Gandhi's comment reflects a disregard for the nation’s democratic framework. Congress leaders, however, have defended Gandhi, claiming his statement has been taken out of context.
As the debate continues, the controversy underscores the ongoing political tensions and ideological divides between the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress.
