CAG Report on Delhi’s Health Services to be Tabled Amid Allegations of Corruption

New Delhi, February 28: The second Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit report on Public Health Infrastructure & Management of Health Services is set to be tabled in the Delhi Assembly, with allegations surfacing against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa claimed that the report would expose “blatant dishonesty” and the alleged misuse of public funds allocated for hospitals and healthcare services during the AAP government’s tenure.

The upcoming report follows a recent CAG audit of the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy, which reportedly revealed an estimated loss of ₹2,002.68 crore to the exchequer. On Thursday, this report was referred to the Public Accounts Committee for further investigation. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has also vowed to table 14 additional CAG reports that were allegedly withheld by the AAP administration.

Sirsa, addressing the media, asserted that the new CAG findings would highlight financial irregularities in the health sector, including inadequate electricity supply in Mohalla Clinics and alleged diversion of healthcare funds. “This report will expose how Arvind Kejriwal looted Delhi in the name of hospitals and health services. The pages of the CAG report will prove that Kejriwal is ‘kattar beimaan’ (blatantly dishonest),” he told ANI.

Echoing these concerns, BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay stated that the findings would reinforce allegations of misgovernance and financial mismanagement. “AAP, which claims to be a party of transparency, has deceived the people of Delhi. The corruption in the health sector is massive, and we are determined to recover every rupee misused. The report being presented today will provide further clarity,” he remarked.

However, AAP leaders have dismissed these allegations as politically motivated. AAP’s former Chief Minister Atishi clarified that presenting the CAG report is a routine procedure and that all formalities had been completed well in advance. “This is a normal process, but BJP has a tendency to set a narrative. The CAG report was prepared and submitted as per due process,” she stated.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also heads the Finance Department, will present the report in the Assembly. The audit is expected to review the operational status of government hospitals, Mohalla Clinics, and other healthcare infrastructure across the capital.

The findings of this report could have significant political implications as both parties continue to trade accusations over governance and accountability in Delhi.
