BENGALURU, February 9, 2025 – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday visited the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) production facility in Bengaluru as part of his engagements for Aero India 2025, the premier aerospace and defence exhibition set to take place from February 10 to 14.
Upon his arrival at HAL Airport, Singh toured the state-of-the-art Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk1A production facility. The LCA Mk1A, an advanced iteration of the Tejas Mk1, boasts enhanced combat capabilities, positioning it as a critical asset for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
"Landed at HAL Airport, Bengaluru, for Aero India 2025. Visited the state-of-the-art LCA Mk1A production facility of HAL. Mk1A is an advanced version of LCA Mk1 with many enhanced features," Singh posted on X.
Designed for superior offensive air support, close combat, and ground attack missions, the Tejas Mk1A has been hailed as a milestone in India's indigenous defence manufacturing. Singh underscored the aircraft’s significance, emphasizing its role as a cornerstone of the IAF’s future fleet.
“The LCA is a multi-role aircraft capable of undertaking offensive air support, close combat, and ground attack missions with ease. The Tejas Mk1A is a source of national pride and will serve as the backbone of the Indian Air Force for decades to come,” he stated.
Aero India 2025: A Premier Aerospace Showcase
The 15th edition of Aero India, a biennial event organized by the Ministry of Defence, is set to be a landmark exhibition, highlighting the latest advancements in aerospace and defence technology. Scheduled to be held at Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru, the first three days will be dedicated to business visitors, while the final two days will be open to the public.
Among the key highlights of this year’s event is the unveiling of the Combat Air Teaming System (CATS) Warrior, a full-scale engineering demonstrator featured at the India Pavilion. The CATS Warrior is an advanced unmanned combat system designed to enhance the IAF’s operational capabilities.
HAL, a major exhibitor at Aero India 2025, is poised to showcase its indigenous aerospace innovations, including the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) and the CATS Warrior. The state-owned defence manufacturer will take center stage at the India Pavilion, reinforcing its commitment to self-reliance in defence technology.
As preparations for the five-day event gather momentum, Aero India 2025 is expected to serve as a strategic platform for global defence leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to explore collaborative opportunities and cutting-edge advancements in the sector.
