New Delhi, February 8: The New Delhi constituency is witnessing a high-profile electoral contest in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, featuring Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Parvesh Verma, and Congress' Sandeep Dikshit.
According to the latest updates, Kejriwal is currently leading with a margin of 254 votes, while BJP's Parvesh Verma is trailing.
Kejriwal first made history in 2013 by defeating the then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of the Congress by a decisive margin of 25,864 votes. In the 2020 elections, he secured victory once again, defeating BJP’s Sunil Kumar Yadav with a margin of 21,697 votes.
This election presents a significant challenge for Kejriwal as he faces two formidable opponents. Parvesh Verma, a seasoned BJP leader and the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, is a strong contender. Meanwhile, Congress' Sandeep Dikshit, a two-time Member of Parliament and son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, is also vying for the seat.
Apart from these key candidates, others contesting from the New Delhi constituency include Santosh Kumar from the Right to Recall Party and Munish Kumar Raizada from the Bharatiya Liberal Party (BLP), among others.
With the contest intensifying, all eyes remain on this crucial seat as the vote count progresses.
