Contract Dispute Leads to Arrests in Separate Firing Case
In a separate incident, Pimpri Chinchwad Police successfully resolved a high-profile shooting case with the arrest of two individuals, including the victim’s cousin, on February 12. The incident, initially suspected to be an extortion attempt, was later revealed to be a family dispute over a contract worth ₹12 lakh.
On January 20, Ajay Vikram Singh was shot in broad daylight inside the premises of Kailas Steel Company, located in the Chakan MIDC area of Pimpri Chinchwad. Following an intensive 20-day investigation, authorities arrested 42-year-old Anant Singh, the victim’s cousin, who orchestrated the attack, along with his accomplice, Rohit Pandey.
Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey confirmed the arrests, revealing that Singh was apprehended in Madhya Pradesh while Pandey was located in Uttar Pradesh. The Anti-Gunda Squad, which is leading the investigation, determined that a total of five individuals were involved in the crime. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
The investigation further uncovered that the accused had conducted detailed reconnaissance of Ajay Singh’s daily routine prior to executing the attack. The perpetrators had procured two motorbikes to facilitate their surveillance. Following the shooting, they fled to Visakhapatnam before eventually dispersing to different locations, including Uttar Pradesh.
Law enforcement agencies continue to track the remaining suspects as part of their ongoing crackdown on organized crime in the region.
