SP Leader Azam Khan’s Family Granted Interim Bail in Property Case

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh): A special court on Wednesday granted interim bail to Dr. Tazeen Fatima and Adeeb Azam Khan, the wife and son of senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan. The relief comes a day after Azam Khan's other son, Abdullah, was also granted interim bail in a property-related case.

The MP-MLA Special Court magistrate, Shobhit Bansal, issued the order in connection with a 2020 case involving allegations of destruction of records related to enemy property. Advocate Zubair Ahmed Khan, representing the accused, stated, “The case pertains to allegations of tampering with official records. Today, Dr. Tazeen Fatima and Adeeb Azam Khan surrendered before the court. After hearing the arguments, the court granted them interim bail.”

Azam Khan, who has been lodged in Sitapur jail since 2020, was also granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in an alleged cheating case. The apex court, invoking Article 142, stated that the interim relief would remain in effect until a decision is made on his regular bail application. The Supreme Court, in its May 17 order, had extended the interim bail concerning a case registered at Kotwali Police Station in Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the Allahabad High Court last week also granted Azam Khan interim bail in a land encroachment case. An application filed by petitioner Zafir Ahmed alleged that Azam Khan was arrested in a separate FIR, which, the plea argued, appeared to be an attempt to obstruct justice. The veteran SP leader is facing multiple legal battles and has been actively seeking bail in various cases. However, the court has directed him to apply for regular bail for further legal proceedings
