Patharia (Madhya Pradesh), March 29: In a bizarre and shocking incident, a small-time egg seller from Patharia town, Madhya Pradesh, has found himself entangled in a high-stakes financial fraud investigation.
Prince Suman, who earns his livelihood selling eggs from a handcart, was left in disbelief after receiving a notice from the Income Tax Department questioning financial transactions amounting to a staggering ₹49.24 crore. The notice, dated March 20, demanded a detailed explanation along with supporting documents such as bills, vouchers, transportation records, and bank statements for the financial year 2022-2023.
According to a Times of India report, Suman and his family were completely taken aback by the inquiry, unable to comprehend how such a massive sum could be linked to them. In an attempt to clear his name, Suman immediately filed a complaint with local authorities, including the Superintendent of Police in Damoh district.
Identity Theft and Fraudulent Company
Subsequent investigations revealed that Prince's personal details had been misused to fraudulently register a company named "Prince Enterprise" in Delhi in December 2022. The firm was also issued a GST number under false pretenses, which was then used to conduct transactions worth crores.
Authorities suspect that a sophisticated financial fraud operation may be behind this act, leveraging identity theft to evade taxes or carry out illegal activities.
Legal Action and Investigation
Suman, who remains perplexed about how his details were misused, has urged law enforcement to take swift action against the culprits. Meanwhile, tax officials and cybercrime investigators are now probing the fraudulent company's operations and tracking the masterminds behind the scam.
As digital financial fraud continues to rise, this incident highlights the urgent need for stronger safeguards against identity theft and misuse of personal information. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the case to ensure that the innocent victim is not held accountable for crimes he never committed.
