Dausa, Rajasthan – A 25-year-old man was allegedly strangled to death in Rajasthan’s Dausa district after he resisted an attempt to apply Holi colours on him, police officials confirmed. The incident took place in Ralwas village, where three individuals—identified as Ashok, Bablu, and Kaluram—approached a local library where the victim, Hansraj, was preparing for a competitive examination.
When Hansraj refused to be smeared with colours, the trio allegedly assaulted him, kicking him and beating him with belts, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dinesh Agarwal. The altercation escalated further, and one of the accused reportedly strangled him to death.
Following the incident, family members and villagers staged a protest, blocking the national highway in the area until 1 AM on Thursday. The protesters demanded:
- ₹50 lakh compensation for Hansraj’s family
- A government job for one of his family members
- The immediate arrest of the accused
The highway was cleared after police officials assured action against the perpetrators, PTI reported.
Teen Injured in Holi Dispute in Maharashtra
In a separate incident in Maharashtra’s Thane district, a 17-year-old boy was attacked following a dispute during Holi celebrations in Dombivli town.
According to police reports, a group of children was throwing water balloons at each other when one accidentally hit a bystander. Enraged, the man allegedly assaulted one of the boys and attacked him with a sharp object, leaving him injured.
Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation, though no arrests have been made yet.
These incidents highlight the dark side of Holi celebrations, where disputes over festivities can escalate into acts of violence and tragedy. Authorities have urged citizens to celebrate responsibly while ensuring law and order.
