BENGALURU, March 28, 2025 – A chilling murder case has unfolded in Southeast Bengaluru, where the body of a 32-year-old woman, Gouri Anil Sambrekar, was discovered inside a trolley bag in a house in Doddakammanahalli village, under the Hulimavu police limits. Hours later, her husband, Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, was detained by the Maharashtra Police in Mumbai on Thursday for allegedly killing her.
According to the Bengaluru police, Khedekar, 36, contacted both the Maharashtra Police and the house owner on Thursday, informing them about his wife’s body in their flat. The police revealed that Khedekar had left Bengaluru on March 25, two days before making the call that led to the discovery of the crime. A police officer stated that the house owner alerted their control room at around 5:30 PM, prompting an immediate response from the authorities.
Initially, the police suspected it might be a case of suicide. However, upon arriving at the scene, they were met with a grim reality. “The woman’s body was found in the washroom,” said Sarah Fathima, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast), confirming the shocking discovery of Sambrekar’s body stuffed inside a trolley bag. The circumstances surrounding the murder and the motive remain unclear as the investigation continues.
The couple, originally from Maharashtra, had been married for two years and had recently moved to the third floor of a rented house in Bengaluru in February 2025. Khedekar was employed as a project manager at a reputed private firm, while Sambrekar, a homemaker, was actively seeking employment. The forensic analysis team and scene-of-crime officers thoroughly examined the crime scene, collecting fingerprints and other evidence before the body was sent for autopsy. The police have informed Sambrekar’s parents of her tragic death.
As the investigation deepens, authorities are working to uncover the events leading up to this horrific incident, with Khedekar now in custody and expected to be brought back to Bengaluru for further questioning
