New Delhi | April 9, 2025 — A fierce gun battle is currently unfolding between security forces and suspected terrorists in Marta village, located in the Ramnagar area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district.
The encounter began early Wednesday following a joint search operation launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in coordination with other security agencies. According to Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, the search operation led to contact with the suspected terrorists, sparking a heavy exchange of fire.
“Two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped at the encounter site. Firing is ongoing,” DIG Bhat confirmed to ANI.
The area has been cordoned off and additional forces have been deployed to prevent any escape attempts by the militants. As of now, there are no reports of casualties on either side.
Security officials are maintaining a high alert in the region, and further updates are awaited as the operation continues to unfold.
