Dublin | April 24, 2025 — The Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland (ICCI), located in Clonskeagh, Dublin, has been temporarily closed to the public in the wake of what is being described as an “unprecedented and deeply distressing incident” that occurred on April 19, 2025.
Although specific details of the incident have not been publicly disclosed, it is understood to be an internal matter. The Centre issued a bilingual notice — in both Arabic and English — confirming the closure and expressing deep sorrow over the situation.
“This decision has been made with the utmost concern for the safety and wellbeing of our community, especially the children of the Muslim National School,” the statement read. It further emphasized that the event marks “a deeply sorrowful moment in the history of our Mosque and Centre.”
The Centre assured the public that it is committed to undertaking a full investigation into the events of April 19 and that the closure will remain in effect until the following objectives are met:
-
Completion of a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident
-
Review and implementation of enhanced safety and security protocols
-
Rebuilding trust and fostering healing within the community
The notice concluded by appealing for understanding and support during what it described as a “difficult moment,” asking for “prayers as we work toward recovery and resolution.”
As the investigation proceeds, further updates are expected from the Centre or relevant authorities.
