Prime Minister Narendra Modi Vows Toughest Punishment for Pahalgam Attack Perpetrators

In a resolute message to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to delivering the "toughest" punishment to terrorists and their supporters, assuring the families of the Pahalgam attack victims that "justice will be served."

Speaking during the 121st episode of his radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister underscored Kashmir’s remarkable progress in recent years, marked by unprecedented growth in tourism and expanding opportunities for youth. He described the Pahalgam attack as a desperate move by the enemies of the nation to derail this progress.

"I assure the families of the victims that they will receive justice. The conspirators and perpetrators behind this heinous act will face the most severe consequences," PM Modi stated.

Describing the attack as a manifestation of frustration among those who "patronise terrorism," the Prime Minister labelled it part of a "big conspiracy" aimed at undermining peace and stability in Kashmir.

“At a time when peace was gradually returning to Kashmir, the enemies of India and Jammu & Kashmir could not tolerate this transformation. Terrorists and their masters conspired to plunge Kashmir into turmoil once again. In our fight against terrorism, the unity and resolve of the nation remain our greatest strength," he emphasized.

Global Solidarity Against Terrorism

The Prime Minister further highlighted the strong international condemnation of the attack, noting that numerous global leaders have reached out to express their solidarity with India.

"World leaders have called me, sent letters, and shared messages, unequivocally condemning this despicable act of terrorism. Today, the entire global community stands firmly with the 1.4 billion people of India in our fight against terrorism," he said.

Addressing a public rally in Bihar’s Madhubani, PM Modi reiterated his government’s determination to ensure that the masterminds and perpetrators of the attack face unprecedented retribution.

"Today, from the sacred soil of Bihar, I send a clear message to the world: India will identify, trace, and deliver justice to every terrorist and their backers. No corner of the Earth will offer them refuge. The spirit of India will never bow to the forces of terror," the Prime Minister asserted.

India's Strong Response to Pakistan

The brutal terrorist assault in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of at least 26 individuals — most of them tourists — marked the deadliest attack in the Valley since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy outfit of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the attack.

In response, New Delhi initiated a series of stringent measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the closure of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari, the suspension of visas for Pakistani nationals, and the downgrading of diplomatic representation at the High Commission.

India’s firm and comprehensive response underscores its resolve to safeguard national security and uphold peace in the region.
