Humid Spells and Incoming Rain: Met Éireann Forecasts a Mixed Start to the Week Across Ireland

DUBLIN — Ireland is set to experience a humid and transitionary start to the week, balancing bright sunny spells in the south and east with incoming bands of heavy rain pushing in from the west, according to national meteorological service Met Éireann.

Following a mild and largely cloudy Sunday featuring scattered patches of mist and light drizzle, high pressure and warm air streams are keeping temperatures elevated. Afternoon highs are expected to peak between 21°C and 25°C across southern and eastern counties, while northern and western regions will see slightly cooler conditions ranging from 17°C to 21°C.

However, the current spell of calm and humid weather will be short-lived. Met Éireann has tracked a moisture-laden frontal system approaching from the Atlantic, which is expected to bring persistent and heavy rain to Ulster and west Connacht by Monday evening before slowly tracking eastwards overnight.

By Tuesday, the active weather front will clear to the southeast, giving way to a more traditional, changeable mix of sunny spells and scattered, isolated showers. Temperatures mid-week are forecasted to hover comfortably between 16°C and 23°C, keeping values slightly above average for mid-August before a more pronounced shift toward autumnal patterns begins to loom on the horizon heading into September.

Forecasters advise commuters and outdoor event organizers to keep an eye on local radar updates as the rain bands move across the country over the next 48 hours.
