New Delhi, May 8, 2025 — In the wake of heightened cross-border hostilities, India on Thursday issued a firm diplomatic warning to Pakistan, urging it to refrain from what senior government officials described as "childish provocations" following the success of Operation Sindoor. According to top sources, Pakistan made multiple unsuccessful attempts to breach Indian airspace, further reinforcing India's assertion that Islamabad continues to provide cover for terrorist operations.
The warning came amid revelations that India had, for the second consecutive night, penetrated Pakistan’s air defence systems, highlighting serious vulnerabilities in Pakistan’s national security infrastructure. Intelligence reports confirmed that Indian drones successfully entered major Pakistani urban centres, including Lahore and Rawalpindi—an operation enabled by the exposed gaps in Pakistan’s defence network.
“Pakistan attempted to damage Indian radar systems using loitering munitions under the cover of night,” a senior official stated. “However, our Air Force remained vigilant and neutralised the incoming threats.” Indian forces noted that any retaliatory fire into Lahore came strictly in response to hostile Pakistani actions.
Government sources clarified that all Indian strikes under Operation Sindoor specifically targeted terror camps operated by proscribed groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba—entities known for orchestrating numerous attacks against Indian civilians and security forces. “India has exercised great restraint by refraining from targeting civilian or military infrastructure in Pakistan,” an official added, “unlike Pakistan, which continues to endanger civilian lives, including minority Sikh communities, through indiscriminate shelling in Poonch.”
On May 7–8, the Pakistan military launched a coordinated drone and missile campaign targeting strategic military installations across Northern and Western India, including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. India’s Integrated Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Grid and Air Defence platforms successfully neutralised all incoming threats. Debris from Pakistani-origin munitions is being recovered across several Indian locations, including remnants of a Chinese-made PL-15E missile found in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
In a measured but assertive counter-response, Indian Armed Forces on Thursday morning launched precision strikes targeting Pakistan’s air defence infrastructure. A radar system deployed in Lahore was reportedly neutralised. Defence officials affirmed that India's countermeasures matched Pakistan’s in domain and intensity, without escalation beyond military targets.
Simultaneously, Pakistan intensified unprovoked artillery shelling across the Line of Control (LoC), employing mortars and heavy-calibre weapons in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. These attacks have resulted in the tragic loss of 16 civilian lives, including three women and five children. In response, Indian forces returned fire to suppress further aggression.
