India Launches Unprecedented Global Diplomatic Outreach Post-Operation Sindoor

In a landmark initiative reflecting India’s resolute stance against terrorism, Members of Parliament, alongside senior government officials and former diplomats, have embarked on one of the country’s most extensive international diplomatic engagements to date. This effort, launched in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, aims to underscore India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and garner global support in holding perpetrators and their sponsors accountable.

Commencing today, the initiative will see seven high-level, multi-party delegations traveling to 32 global capitals and the European Union. The first two delegations have departed for Japan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with additional teams scheduled to follow in the coming days.

Delegation Details and Itinerary

Group 3, under the leadership of Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha, will visit Japan (May 22), South Korea (May 24), Singapore (May 27), Indonesia (May 28), and Malaysia (May 31). This delegation includes a diverse mix of political voices, such as BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Baruah, and Hemang Joshi; AITC MP Abhishek Banerjee; CPI(M) MP John Brittas; and Congress leader Salman Khurshid, alongside former ambassador Mohan Kumar.

Concurrently, Group 4, led by Shiv Sena MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, will travel to the UAE (May 21), Democratic Republic of Congo (May 24), Sierra Leone (May 28), and Liberia (May 31). Accompanying him are BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra; IUML MP E.T. Mohammed Basheer; BJD MP Sasmit Patra; senior leader S.S. Ahluwalia; and Ambassador Sujan Chinoy.

Ahead of their departure, both delegations were extensively briefed by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on India’s firm evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in terror activities and the broader strategic imperative of India’s international diplomatic campaign.

Speaking after the briefing, MP Sanjay Jha stated, “India will convey to the world that it will no longer tolerate terrorism emanating from across the border. Trust in Pakistan's promises has only yielded betrayal.” Dr. Shrikant Shinde added, “Our delegations will present credible evidence of Pakistan’s complicity in cross-border terrorism, and urge global partners to take a principled stand against such acts of violence.”

Comprehensive Global Engagement

This unprecedented outreach involves 51 representatives from across the political spectrum, traveling as part of multi-party teams. Their engagements will include meetings with foreign ministers, legislators, policy think tanks, and prominent media outlets to present India's unified position against terrorism.

The other delegations are scheduled as follows:

  • Group 1, led by BJP’s Baijayant Jay Panda, will visit Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Algeria (May 23–30).

  • Group 2, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, will cover France, Italy, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Germany (May 25–June 5).

  • Group 5, under Congress MP Dr. Shashi Tharoor, will tour Guyana, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, and the United States (May 25–June 3).

  • Group 6, led by DMK MP Kanimozhi, will visit Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain (May 22–31).

  • Group 7, headed by NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, will travel to Qatar, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt (May 24–June 1).

India’s Message to the World

These delegations collectively represent India’s bipartisan resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms. By engaging with key global stakeholders, India seeks to emphasize the urgent need for coordinated international action against terror networks and their state sponsors.

The diplomatic offensive follows precision airstrikes carried out by India on May 7 against nine identified terror camps operated by Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strikes were in direct response to the brutal killing of 26 civilians—predominantly Hindus—in the tourist town of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22.

The escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors continued for three days until a ceasefire was declared on May 10. The current outreach marks a crucial phase in India’s efforts to globalize its campaign against terrorism and ensure the perpetrators of such heinous crimes are internationally isolated.
