New Delhi, May 21, 2025 – India has categorically dismissed accusations from Pakistan implicating Indian involvement in a deadly bomb blast in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, where six individuals, including four children, were killed in an attack targeting a school bus on Wednesday. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs labeled the allegations as "baseless" and condemned the loss of life, while accusing Pakistan of deflecting responsibility for its internal security challenges.
In an official statement, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal declared, “India rejects the baseless allegations made by Pakistan regarding Indian involvement with the incident in Khuzdar earlier today. India condoles the loss of lives in all such incidents." The statement further criticized Pakistan’s tendency to attribute its domestic issues to India, noting, “However, in order to divert attention from its reputation as the global epicenter of terrorism and to hide its own gross failings, it has become second nature for Pakistan to blame India for all its internal issues. This attempt to hoodwink the world is doomed to fail."
The bomb blast in Khuzdar, which also injured nearly 40 others, is suspected to have involved a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED), according to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry. Pakistani authorities, including the military and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, pointed fingers at “Indian terror proxies” without providing evidence to substantiate their claims.
The accusations come against the backdrop of heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, following a four-day military confrontation last month. The conflict was triggered by a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 tourists were killed by militants linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). In response, India conducted targeted airstrikes under ‘Operation Sindoor,’ striking terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan retaliated with drone and missile strikes, which India successfully intercepted.
No group has claimed responsibility for the Khuzdar attack, though suspicion is likely to fall on Baloch separatist groups such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) or the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), both of which have a history of carrying out deadly attacks in Balochistan. The province has long been a hotspot of instability, driven by ethnic Baloch grievances over resource exploitation and political marginalization by Pakistan’s federal government. The insurgency, spanning over two decades, continues to fuel violence and unrest in the region.
India’s swift rebuttal underscores the ongoing diplomatic friction between New Delhi and Islamabad, as both nations navigate a volatile security landscape marked by mutual distrust and recurring accusations of cross-border interference.
