May 31, Copenhagen — Members of the Indian parliamentary delegation currently visiting Denmark strongly condemned attempts by Pakistani nationals to disrupt their outreach programme, terming the actions as “desperate” and reflective of Pakistan’s growing isolation on the global stage.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, addressing the Indian diaspora in Copenhagen on Friday, dismissed the protestors as “irrelevant,” advising the community to “ignore them with impunity.” The protest reportedly occurred outside the venue where the Indian delegation was holding discussions as part of India’s global campaign to raise awareness against terrorism.
“I was surprised to see Pakistanis here raising slogans,” said Prasad. “Our programme is going very well and receiving wide coverage. Their handlers in Pakistan must have directed this disruption. This is desperation. Pakistan is a desperate country that survives in a constant state of unrest. Ignore them with impunity.”
Drawing attention to grave human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Balochistan, Prasad highlighted the plight of residents suffering under Pakistani rule. “People in PoK are desperate to join India. In Balochistan, women face barbaric treatment. Pakistan is in a state of turmoil. We fought four wars — India did not initiate a single one — and Pakistan lost every time. Jinnah created Pakistan, and it has now become a general’s shop,” he remarked, underscoring the military's domination over Pakistani civil society.
The Indian delegation in Copenhagen comprises BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari, Samik Bhattacharya, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, Congress MPs Ghulam Ali Khatana and Amar Singh, former Union Minister MJ Akbar, and former Indian Ambassador Pankaj Saran.
Samik Bhattacharya, also speaking at the diaspora event, emphasized India’s firm resolve to tackle terrorism without seeking international sympathy. “We are not going around the world with folded hands. Our message is clear: terrorism must be eradicated. What is happening to us today will eventually impact others if not addressed. Even Pakistanis abroad are ashamed — they avoid using their country’s name and prefer Indian identities,” he said.
The Copenhagen visit is part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach to counter misinformation and rally international opinion against state-sponsored terrorism. The delegation continues its engagements across Europe to foster global solidarity on this pressing issue.
