Indian tourists boycott Turkey, Azerbaijan following Pakistan's support
Many Indian tourists are boycotting both countries due to their support for Pakistan following Operation Sindoor. Indian travelers are now exploring alternative destinations with similar atmosphere and budget.
Amid boycott calls, Indian travel companies have temporarily suspended or stopped bookings to Turkey and Azerbaijan. The boycott furore has prompted Indian businesses and politicians to speak out against Turkey and Azerbaijan. Some have even called for a ban on Turkish products.
Over the years, Indians have shown a growing interest in traveling to Turkey and Azerbaijan. In the past few years, Turkey and Azerbaijan have become popular choices for Indian travelers because of how easy and affordable they are.
In 2024, about 2.4 lakh Indians visited Azerbaijan and 3.3 lakh visited Turkey, contributing a combined ₹69 billion to their economies. Their tourism economy contributed more than ₹69 billion to their economies. Now cancellations have increased by 250%.
