Karachi, – The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) issued a statement on Friday confirming that Karachi Port sustained “significant damage” from India’s recent military strikes, describing the impact as causing “unacceptable harm to properties.” In a post on X, the KPT announced that emergency response operations are underway, with regular updates on recovery efforts to follow. The statement concluded with a note of determination, stating, “We stand resilient.”
However, the KPT’s announcement came just an hour after the same account had categorically denied any damage to the port. The earlier post dismissed media reports of an Indian strike as “completely false and baseless,” asserting that “the movement of ships, shipping, and cargo handling at Karachi Port is continuing as per routine.” The contradictory statements have raised questions about the extent of the damage and the initial response from Pakistani authorities amid escalating tensions following India’s military operations targeting terror hideouts in the region.
