Operation Sindoor: India Warns Against Escalation as Pakistan Mobilises Troops to Forward Areas

New Delhi, May 11 — Amid mounting tensions along the India-Pakistan border, the Indian government on Saturday issued a measured yet firm warning, stating that while India remains committed to de-escalation, any further provocation by Pakistan will be met with a resolute response. This comes as Pakistani forces were observed mobilising troops to forward positions, signalling a potential intent to escalate hostilities.

At a joint special briefing convened by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of External Affairs, senior defence officials Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, addressed the media on the latest developments under Operation Sindoor.

“Pakistan’s troop movements toward the forward areas are indicative of offensive posturing and an intent to aggravate the situation,” the officials stated. “The Indian armed forces are maintaining a high level of operational readiness and have effectively countered all hostile actions by the Pakistani military thus far.”

Reiterating India’s preference for restraint, the representatives emphasised that New Delhi does not seek to escalate tensions. “The Indian armed forces remain committed to a policy of non-escalation, provided it is matched with reciprocal intent by the Pakistani side,” they said.

Operation Sindoor was launched in response to a series of cross-border terrorist incidents, including the deadly Pahalgam attack. While India has conducted precision strikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, officials maintain that its military actions have been carefully calibrated to avoid civilian or non-military targets.

The Ministry of Defence stressed that India continues to monitor developments closely and is prepared for any contingency. Further updates are expected as the situation evolves.
