Srinagar: Pakistan has attacked schools and religious institutions along the border. External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri said that Pakistan attacked Christ School in Poonch.
"Both parents were injured. The school staff and local residents took shelter in an underground chamber inside the school during the shelling," he said. Misri said it was fortunate that the school was closed during the attack, otherwise there would have been a lot of damage.
Pakistan also targeted places of worship such as gurdwaras, mosques, and temples with shelling. Vikram Misri added that this method was despicable. Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh explained that Pakistan targeted Indian military installations.
Colonel Sophia Qureshi said that Pakistan has continuously provoked the Line of Control. "Pakistan carried out the attack using Turkish drones. The Pakistani army has continuously violated the ceasefire. Pakistan has targeted 36 facilities.
During heavy shelling across the #LoC in the early morning of 7th May, a shell fired from Pakistan landed just behind the Christ School in #Poonch. Tragically, the shell hit the home of two students of the Christ School, and both students, unfortunately, lost their lives, and their parents sustained injuries Several priests, nuns, school staff, and local residents took refuge in an underground hall of the school during the shelling by Pakistan. The school was fortunately closed, otherwise more losses would have occurred.
