Adampur, Punjab :In the aftermath of Operation Sindoor and the subsequent India-Pakistan ceasefire, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the Adampur Air Force Station in Punjab, a critical military installation that was among the targets during Pakistan’s attempted retaliation on the night of May 9–10.
During his visit, the Prime Minister was briefed on the prevailing security situation and interacted with air warriors and soldiers stationed at the base. His visit comes just days after India’s preemptive and retaliatory strikes on terror infrastructure across the border on May 7, which triggered a sharp escalation before both nations agreed to a ceasefire on May 10.
Sharing his sentiments on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi wrote:
“Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”
The visit underscores the government’s strong support for the armed forces in the wake of heightened regional tensions. Adampur Air Base, a key strategic installation in North India, had been placed on high alert after being identified as a potential target in Pakistan’s response to India’s targeted military operation against terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
While India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on May 10, New Delhi has clarified that its military posture remains alert and Operation Sindoor is merely paused—not concluded. Government sources have reiterated that any future actions will depend entirely on Pakistan’s behavior, particularly with regard to cross-border terrorism.
The Prime Minister’s visit is being seen as both a morale booster for the forces and a clear signal that India remains vigilant and resolute in its commitment to national security.
